This is one museum you can’t miss.

Now, we’re not saying you should see it. And we’re not saying you should not see. But you definitely can’t miss it.

The Great Platte River Road Archway hangs over Interstate 80 like a felled redwood, a cantilevered testament to an age of cattle and dust wrought in modern steel and stone. Covering the period from 1843 to 1869, when nearly half a million settlers traveled west across a vast network of trails, the Archway uses a its own network of fiber optic cables to deliver a unique museum experience full of sound and light.

It’ll take a few hours to get to from Omaha, but if you make a day trip of it, you will see what True West Magazine calls the “#1 Western Museum in the United States.”
