EmailStanding Bear Lake is a park in West Omaha named after the Ponca leader Chief Standing Bear. The park is open year round and offers a variety of lake activities including fishing and boating as well as ice skating in the winter. There is a playground, paths for running and biking, picnic areas, and open spaces, all of which add to the appeal of this park. The Standing Bear Lake also features a remote control airplane flying field, home of the Omahawks R/C Club.
Admission is free.
The park is open year round.

You should include something about the “wind pipes” in your park description and photos. I’ve enjoyed them on my walks in the park, and have taken my grandkids there when there was enough breeze to hear their “music.”
They were fascinated, but I couldn’t tell them the story behind them, or who created them for the park.
Can you tell me? It’s definitely an example of art in nature!

Found this on wikipedia and then saw your inquiry… thought I would share:
One unusual feature at Standing Bear is a wind organ. Created by artist Douglas Hollis, the sculpture is a combination of metal pipes placed vertically in the ground. Each pipe has a hole in its side for filtering the wind and making sound. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_Bear_Lake)

This is a great park. It is sorely in need of playground equipment for kids. As of now, there is only 4 swings.
