Taste of Omaha
The Taste of Omaha is a three day food and entertainment festival in mid June. With thousands in attendance, multiple stages of music, children's activities, and the participation of over 40 restaurants, the FREE festival has become a staple of the Omaha culinary scene since its inception in 1998.
The idea behind the Taste of Omaha is simple: showcase the food. Festival goers purchase tickets which they can exchange for small portions of the unique food served in a wide variety of Omaha area restaurants. Held each year in Lewis & Clark Landing and the Heartland of America Park, the event is perfect for gourmands looking to sample new restaurants to try.
It also appeals to diners on a budget who usually cannot afford fine dining, as patrons are encouraged to eat as much or as little as they like. With offerings from almost every culinary style offered in Omaha (American, Continental, Mexican, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Thai, German, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Caribbean, and more) plus ice cream, desserts, and a beer tent, it's safe to say that there's something for everyone.
This includes music lovers and children. Each night features free performances on multiple stages, and you can bet that the music is as diverse as the food. Past acts have included not only familiar rock and country, but Irish bands, Salsa, Polka, Serbo-Croatian music, Elvis impersonators—you get the idea. Kids are kept occupied with amusement rides, balloons, face painting, music, comedy, and magic acts, and a Ferris Wheel that overlooks the entire festival!
