A relatively small group of friendly, rational people stood along Dodge street in front of Memorial Park with signs encouraging drivers, joggers and passers-by to "Please, Stop Screaming" because "God Loves Us All the Same."

Skeptics I talked with before today said Jon Stewart’s Rally to Restore Sanity was nothing more than a liberal rally to ridicule Tea-Partiers and right-wing pundits.  I was pleasantly relieved, though, to see that most of the signs displayed by Omaha’s rally were a-political, promoting more reasonable behavior and discourse.

One of the best parts of the rally was the PrairieGators, a trio playing Cajun, Zydeco and Creole music on the guitar, cello and accordion.  It was a perfect soundtrack for a beautiful fall day and a group of reasonable folks.

Thanks to the organizers for all the hard work, and to everyone in attendance!  For my first rally ever, I count it a great success!  Check out these event photos or go listen to the PrairieGators!

Let me know what you thought of the Rally to Restore Sanity / The Rally to Keep Fear Alive in the comments below!
